Open Choir Series
begins this Fall
This fall we will resume our weekly Open Choir gathering at West-Park Presbyterian Church, Thursdays 7-9pm, beginning October 8th, with culminating singing and discussion events November 19-21. Members of the Open Program of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards are returning to NYC for these events, with more details to come, including an Open Choir at the Bronx Museum and other new locations. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
The NYC Seed Group grew out of the initial New York Open Choir encounters in 2014, as a collective of diversely assembled individuals interested in collaborating with the artists of the Open Program of the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards to develop the work further. The individuals drawn to the work of the Seed Group are made up of people from different walks of life, different backgrounds, faiths, and professions. For the past year, we have been able to consistently meet and grow together in a city that often presents serious challenges to long-term collaborations and journeys. With an ongoing guidance from the Open Program, we’re developing the Open Choir as a public, participatory art-work right here in New York.
